Dear Golda Och Academy Community,
Throughout our 56-year history, Golda Och Academy has been led by exceptional Heads of School, who have advanced our mission. In keeping with this tradition of excellence, the GOA Board of Trustees is proud to announce that Rabbi Danny Nevins will become our new Head of School, starting July 1, 2021.
We thank the GOA community for your participation throughout our Head of School search process, which began in November 2020 with the formation of our Search Committee and the engagement of Prizmah as a search partner. Your feedback to community-wide surveys, participation in focus groups, and overall collaboration has been a vital source of information, direction, and support. A sincere thanks to David Moss for leading the Head of School search effort.
Rabbi Nevins brings to the position a unique blend of educational experience, rabbinic leadership, and vision. Based on our discussions with those who have worked closely with Rabbi Nevins, a clear picture emerged of a stellar leader, colleague, talented educator and all-around good person. We were moved by his rare blend of intellectual strength and meschlichkeit.
Rabbi Nevins is widely regarded as a thought leader and brings a unique approach to building and sustaining vibrant Jewish communities. He holds a B.A. from Harvard College and an M.A. in Jewish Studies and Rabbinic Ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary (more about Rabbi Nevins
here). Rabbi Nevins inspires, elevates, and connects. While he is a natural leader, he is known for drawing upon others’ strengths to enhance the team’s overall performance and the institution’s excellence. His leadership style invites a collaborative process wherein people are comfortable sharing a diversity of ideas.
As Mr. Shapiro completes his final academic year at GOA, we thank him for his 18 years of dedicated service, with the past six years as our Head of School. Mr. Shapiro has impacted the lives of hundreds of students, alumni, faculty, parents, and the broader community and will be leaving an indelible mark on our school. We thank him for his steadfast service to our school and look forward to paying tribute to him later this year.
Please join me in congratulating Rabbi Danny Nevins who will lead Golda Och Academy into this next chapter, promote GOA’s role as a flagship institution of academic excellence, and build upon our school’s current momentum.
My sincere thanks for all you do to support Golda Och Academy. On behalf of the Golda Och Academy Board of Trustees, I look forward to seeing our school go from strength to strength and extend to you and your families my warmest wishes for a joyous Pesach.
L’hitraot,
Keith Biebelberg
